Despite being just one grade apart and having many mutual friends, Kevin and Ilana only knew each other from a distance at Miramonte and didn’t have too much overlap. They both attended college in Southern California (Ilana at SDSU and Kevin at UCLA) and lived their twenties in different cities; Ilana pursued her Masters in Psychology at UCSF and lived in San Francisco, while Kevin pursued a moderately successful career as an Actor in Los Angeles.

It wasn’t until a mutual friend and another Miramonte Grad’s 30th birthday party on January 7th 2017 (huge shoutout Sam Brasch) that Ilana and Kevin re-met in San Francisco. Kevin had just moved back from LA, they were both recently single, and a casual conversation sparked an instant connection. They haven’t been apart since that day for more than a week.

Fast forward to the cancelation of a June 6th 2020 wedding (thanks Covid) and the two lovebirds decided to forgo pomp and circumstance to get married on Zoom by a justice of the peace at Ilana’s parents dining room table. They lucked out buying a house in Orinda that same year (thanks Hillary Murphy!) and their first daughter, Lila, arrived 7/11/21, followed by a baby boy, Levi, this year on 4/8/24.

Ilana is now a successful therapist working with teens and adults running her own private practice, and Kevin works as an Employee Benefits Consultant alongside Sam Brasch (06’) and Kevin Calder (04’) (boy that Miramonte connection is real huh?). They couldn’t feel luckier to be back in the community and are both thrilled that their kids will get the same fabulous education and community connection that has supported them and their relationship.
