Ryan and Alex met in Señor Diaz's Spanish class when Alex was a freshman and Ryan was in 8th grade! Ryan was ahead in Spanish so he would come from OIS to MHS for 1st period. They were in Spanish together throughout high school and really hit it off in Señora Doreen Wagner's AP Spanish class when Alex was a senior. As a junior, Ryan asked Alex to Senior Ball and she was very skeptical given his age but her mom quipped, "look, you like him and he makes you laugh, it's not like you're going to marry him." Ryan and Alex started dating shortly after prom and stayed together when Alex went off to the Claremont Colleges, followed by Ryan to USC the following year where he studied engineering. They thought it best to part ways and have their own college adventures but always stayed in touch.

When Alex graduated and moved to San Francisco to work in PR, they reconnected over the summer in Orinda and the rest is history. Ryan joined Alex in the city, where they lived for a decade before buying their first home back in Orinda close to their families. Ryan is an experienced software engineer and startup founder, and now leads an engineering team at Block. Alex worked in luxury lifestyle PR before moving in-house to lead PR, events and celebrity partnerships for RH (Restoration Hardware). She now works in internal communications at Meta. Alex is also a real estate agent with Dudum in Lafayette.

Alex and Ryan got married in Santa Barbara in April 2018 and welcomed their first child, Blake Eloise, in October 2024. They look forward to raising Blake in Orinda and having her go through the Orinda schools, from Sleepy Hollow through Miramonte! Go Mats!
